PHILOSOPHY
Our Purposes
a. To assist Chinese migrants to overcome physical, emotional, and social difficulties as
they settle to establish new life in New Zealand.
b. To assist Chinese migrants to gain a better understanding and appreciation of their
new environments – education, employment, environmental nature, recreation, sports,
arts – in order to facilitate adjustment and assimilation into local communities and
greater New Zealand community in general.
c. Support Chinese migrants to increase participation in local communities and lifeenhancing
activities – recreation, sports, arts, culture, environmental conservation.
d. Empowering Chinese migrants to develop skills, capabilities, leadership needed to
drive positive local change, and sustainable development.
e. Enhance cultural vibrancy in local communities by preserving Chinese culture identity
yet also celebrating cultures not limited to Chinese heritage, thereby strengthening
cross-cultural connectedness.
f. Improving social equity for Chinese migrants to address issues in accessibility to
housing, health, education, employment, enterprise opportunities.
