Mt William walkway situates 40 minutes to Central Auckland, an ideal weekend day trip for the hiking enthusiasts of NZGXA! After our Coromandel Cathedral Cove, Mt William Hike is the second hiking trip since the uplift of lockdown.
Highlights: fern forest, kauri trees, lush green farmland
Directions: google map input 48 McMillan Rd, Mangatawhiri 2471(-37.220524,175.029612)
NZGX hiking gang started the trip from the carpark at 48 McMillan Road.
The most difficult part of the walk is probably the forest woods area as paths are unpaved. Those who have joint problems may want to bring tools such as walking stick to aid the hike. It is also best to avoid wet days, as the grounds may flood and become slippery.
One of our member had some interesting falls along the mud walk.
The best scenery comes 50 minutes into the hike, where we arrive at beautiful lush greens of flowing mountains and hills. From here you can view into beautiful horizon for a golden sunset, and take some magnificent views of South Auckland.
